Labor to Wisconsin Senators: No, Screw You.

In the ongoing drama that is Wisconsin legislation, the state's Democrats have begun to push for the recall of eight Republican state senators who have backed Gov. Scott Walker's budget proposals. Wisconsin's major public & private labor unions have thrown their support behind the initiative. The organizers of the recall campaign have sixty days to gather 14,733 signatures for each senator they wish to recall. Recall efforts against the governor will not begin until next year since Wisconsin law only allows the recall of elected officials that have been seated for at least one year. Gov. Scott Walker took office on January 3rd.
I think it's important to follow the events concerning labor in Wisconsin because it will show how much weight labor unions can still throw around when need be. Also, should this recall happen, it will be interesting see what disgruntled voters in Wisconsin will do. Recall elections can be unpredictable. I lived in California during the recall of Gov. Gray Davis. We know how that turned out.
